Extruded-aluminium bioclimatic pergolas with rotating louvres, integrated drainage and a full range of screens, lighting and heating. Three ranges — One, Smart and Smart+ — from urban balconies to exposed coastal terraces.
Every Modelo pergola is built on the same technical backbone: a 6063-T5 extruded-aluminium frame with a class 2 polyester powder-coat finish, orientable louvres that rotate from 0° to 135°, and a perimeter gutter that drains through the posts. Close the louvres and the roof is watertight; open them and the deck breathes. The three ranges differ in profile strength, level of automation and the wind loads they are engineered for.
Louvres that follow the sun, optional perimeter LED lighting, zip screens and infrared heating: an outdoor room you use in every season, day and night.
A ventilated shelter that shades from the sun and seals against rain. Motorised louvres modulate light and airflow from 0° to 135°; the powder-coated aluminium frame needs no maintenance beyond a wash.
Clean structural lines and the regular rhythm of the louvres give the outdoor room real presence. Wall-attached or freestanding, in four standard colours or any RAL shade, it suits contemporary and traditional Australian homes alike.
All three share the same aluminium, finish and louvre system. Move up the range for stronger profiles, more automation and higher wind ratings. Modelo Smart is our recommended core range for most residential projects.

All four standard colours are included across the three ranges at no extra cost: class 2 polyester powder coat with anti-UV and anti-corrosion treatment, Qualicoat-compliant. Bespoke projects can specify any RAL shade, sandblasted or textured finishes, two-tone posts and louvres, and a marine-grade coating for coastal exposure.
RAL 7016
The European standard — timeless and versatile.
RAL 7031
Soft, contemporary tone — ideal for coastal projects.
RAL 8019
Warm tone that complements timber decking.
RAL 9010
Bright finish for Mediterranean and Hamptons-style homes.
Colour warranty. The powder-coated finish is covered by a 7-year warranty against delamination, chalking and significant colour alteration — see Standards & warranties below.
Every accessory integrates with the three ranges without heavy structural work. Kits are supplied pre-wired and compatible with the standard drive system, for fast installation in the workshop and on site.

Warranties apply within Australia, subject to installation by a Modelo-certified installer in accordance with Modelo installation requirements and to regular maintenance (minimum bi-annual cleaning with pH-neutral soapy water).
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| Every 6 months | Clean the structure with pH-neutral soapy water. Check fixings and drainage points. |
| Annually | Grease the louvre rotation shafts. Check the tightness of the base plates. |
| Every 3 years | Full inspection by a certified installer — drive system, sensors, water tightness. |
| After storms | Visual inspection of louvres, rails and fixings. Contact us if in doubt. |
An aluminium roof made of louvres that rotate from fully closed to 135° open. Closed, it sheds rain into a hidden gutter; open, it lets sun and air through; anywhere in between, it shades. The Smart and Smart+ ranges are motorised and can react to rain and wind on their own.
It depends on size, height, setbacks and your zoning. In NSW many pergolas fall under exempt or complying development, but attached roofs, larger spans and bushfire or heritage areas can require a CDC or DA. We check the rules for your site before you order and can supply drawings for your certifier.
Both. A wall-attached pergola needs a sound structural wall and a flashed connection; a freestanding one stands on posts fixed to concrete footings or a slab. Coupled modules share posts to cover long runs — up to 18 m with Smart and 28 m with Smart+.
Modelo One is designed for wind zones N1–N2 (up to about 90 km/h), Smart for N1–N3 (130 km/h with the louvres closed) and Smart+ for N1–N4 and C1 cyclonic coastal zones (180 km/h closed). Smart+ closes its louvres automatically when the built-in sensor detects strong wind or rain. These are manufacturer-indicative values; full AS/NZS 1170 test reports are available for engineering sign-off.
Closed louvres overlap into a watertight roof. Water runs into the perimeter gutter and out through a downpipe concealed inside a post. Smart+, and Smart fitted with the optional sensor, close automatically at the first drops.
Modelo One is manual and needs no wiring at all. Smart and Smart+ run on a 24 V drive from a dedicated 230 V circuit protected by a 16 A breaker, connected by a licensed electrician. Lighting, heating and screens run from the same supply.
Made-to-order modules ship 4 to 8 weeks from a confirmed order. Modelo Smart 3 × 3, 3 × 4 and 4 × 4 in Anthracite Grey are stock items, delivered within 7 business days.
Yes. Every accessory — zip screens, perimeter LED, spotlights, infrared heaters, the Wi-Fi kit and rain/wind sensors — is designed to retrofit to the three ranges without structural work. Heating and Wi-Fi kits are available on Smart and Smart+.
Modelo-certified installers only: installation by a trained team is a condition of the structural warranty. In Sydney, 5 Star Decking installs Modelo pergolas and can build the deck to go with them. Elsewhere, your own installer can be certified after a technical check with us, so that the warranty applies.
Wash the structure with pH-neutral soapy water every six months and check fixings and drainage points; grease the louvre shafts once a year; book a full inspection by a certified installer every three years; and take a look at louvres, rails and fixings after a big storm.
Send us your deck dimensions and a few photos: we will recommend the range, size and options for your site, check the approval path and quote supply and installation.
